Business Advisory Services

While you will know your business inside and out, there will inevitably come a time when you realise you may need some external help. This could be in the form of ensuring the business remains compliant with its numerous accounts and tax filings, but may extend to more strategic advice on growing and expanding the business. Whatever stage of the business’ life-cycle you find yourself in, we aim to offer help and advice to take your business to the next chapter.

Business Start-Ups

Making the leap and deciding to set-up your own business can be both exciting and daunting at the same time. We have experience working with entrepreneurs at this stage of their careers and can provide the necessary guidance and support to maximise the chance of your business thriving.

We can advise on the structure your business should take – sole-trade, partnership, LLP or limited company – much of which will depend on the relationship between the owners. We can advise on the requirements for VAT and PAYE registration and the various options and exclusions available under each tax scheme. We can advise on the most tax efficient way to extract funds from the new business and assist with any other finance-related tasks that may arise – a typical one being assisting with raising bank finance to fund initial investment or working capital requirements of the business.

Growth Stage Businesses

Once your business has been operating for a few years, it will hopefully have a solid footing with which to launch into the next stage and really drive the business forward to maximise income for the business owners through increased and sustainable profits, and/or maximise the equity value of the business in preparation for a potential exit.

At this stage the business should have a strong grip on its past and expected future performance through the regular preparation, review and analysis of management information. Reliable budgets and forecasts should also be prepared to enable the business to predict future cash flows and working capital requirements.

Businesses at this stage often find themselves with only a basic finance function; not quite at the stage of the business lifecycle where they can justify the cost of a full-time finance director. Iambe Advisory can assist you with this by providing an outsourced finance professional to undertake the role of a finance director on a flexible or part-time basis, depending on the business needs.

During this stage of the business, there may also be the desire or need to raise additional funds through the issue of equity or debt to external sources. This may involve raising funds through one of the Government-backed incentive schemes such as SEIS or EIS, and Iambe Advisory will be able to guide you through this process.

Established Businesses

Once your business is well established and is generating sustainable revenue and profit levels, then you may think this is the time to sit-back and let the management team takeover the day-to-day operations of the business while you reap the rewards of your hard-work over the years.

This is certainly an option, but now may also be the time to think about diversifying and expanding the business into new markets, demographics or product lines. A true entrepreneur will likely have considered such actions, and Iambe Advisory can assist you with putting this into practice through the development of robust business plans, carrying out sensitivity analysis on future revenue streams or putting into place management incentive schemes to motivate the senior management team.

At this stage you may also be thinking about exiting the business; we can assist with getting the business in the best position for a sale, including ensuring the accounts and other management information present the business in the best possible light to potential buyers.
